St. Mary’s Centenary College of Management successfully organized a workshop on “Securities Market Essentials: Foundations for Future Managers” on 26th February 2026 at Marian Seminar Hall, in association with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The session was conducted by Mrs. Padmavati Selvam, SEBI SMART (Securities Market Trainer), who brought valuable industry insights and practical knowledge to the students. The program commenced with a formal welcome and introduction of the resource person, followed by her felicitation as a mark of respect and appreciation. During the session, Mrs. Selvam provided a comprehensive overview of the securities market, highlighting the role and key mandates of SEBI in protecting investors and regulating market activities. She explained the fundamentals of stock markets, money management, and the importance of disciplined investing. Special emphasis was laid on the impact of inflation, the power of compounding, and the need for early and goal-based financial planning. The workshop also covered practical aspects such as Demat and Trading Accounts, required documentation for investing, various types of mutual funds, Systematic Investment Plans (SIP), and the Do’s and Don’ts of investing in the securities market. Students were also informed about SEBI’s SCORES grievance redressal system, promoting investor awareness and protection. The session was interactive and engaging, with students actively participating and clarifying their queries related to investment strategies and financial planning. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ayesha, expressing gratitude to the resource person, management, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation. The program proved to be highly informative and beneficial, equipping students with essential financial knowledge and reinforcing the importance of responsible investing for future managers.
