Posted on 26 Jun, 2025
June 26th 2025, St. Mary’s Centenary College of Management (SMCCoM), under the NSS Unit, marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a vibrant and purposeful series of activities to raise awareness and promote a drug-free society. This year’s global theme, “Breaking the Chains: Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery for All!”, was at the heart of the college’s initiative. Events included a rally, essay writing competition, and group discussions—all aimed at educating students and the public on the harmful impact of substance abuse. The awareness rally led by energetic MBA students, where students distributed informational pamphlets and engaged with citizens, urging them to “Say No to Drugs” and help “Build a Brighter Future.” Director and Principal of SMCCoM, stressed the urgent need for youth awareness and participation in combating drug addiction. He encouraged students to become role models and agents of change in society. Back on campus, the essay writing and group discussion competitions gave students a platform to express their insights, propose solutions, and reflect on the theme. These activities fostered critical thinking and encouraged collaborative dialogue among peers. The program was a strong testament to SMCCoM’s dedication to promoting social responsibility and holistic development. The collective efforts of students, faculty, and the NSS Unit made the observance a meaningful and impactful one, reinforcing the college’s commitment to nurturing responsible future leaders.
